With the MasterWatt Lite series Cooler Master offers 80Plus certified units with wattages ranging from 400W to 700W. Optimization for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Following the launch of AMD’s ReLive 16.12.2 WQHL drivers there is already a new beta update available. This release should bring significant performance improvements to a few games as well as optimizations for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Almost a decade ago Intel released the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 processor, which was the first Intel quad-core CPU for the desktop market. This being an Extreme-series chip the asking price was pretty high. However a few months later Intel released the Core 2 Quad Q6600, which also came with four cores but was much more affordable.

With the launch of Kaby Lake Intel has brought change to their Pentium lineup which includes Hyperthreading. This means there are now Pentium CPUs with two cores and four threads available for as little as 75 Euro. Thanks to Hyperthreading, the performance level of the new Intel Pentium CPUs is much closer to Intel’s Core i3 chips.

Sapphire already has a wide portfolio when it comes to graphics cards but nevertheless they have shown yet another model based on AMD’s Polaris 11 GPU. The RX 460 Nitro OC 1024 SP features a fully enabled Polaris 11 GPU with 1024 stream processors. Compared to a standard RX 460 graphics these are 14% more stream processors.

With the upcoming socket AM4, AMD is going to change the mounting holes. Quite a few manufacturers have already updated their own CPU cooler-series with AM4 retention kits, offering cost-free or cheap upgrade. The socket AM4 is going to support Bristol-Ridge APUs as well as Ryzen CPUs based on the upcoming Zen architecture.

Two new HGST Ultrastar disks

Western Digital
Although Western Digital is meanwhile also active in the SSD market, they’re going to launch two new high-capacity HDDs. Both models belong to the HGST Ultrastar series providing 12TB and 14TB of storage space. To provide an increased life-span, these drives are going to be pre-filled with helium.

A refreshed 88SS1074

Marvell
Although vendors are focusing on M.2 and NVMe capable SSDs lately the SATA drives are still the cash cow and actually affordable to the masses. Apart from that M.2 drives require up to four PCIe lanes, of which there aren’t too many, which make the SATA drives interesting to use as mass storage.

A few weeks ago the French hardware magazine Canard PC Hardware has published information that the upcoming AMD Ryzen CPUs should allow overclocking to 5 GHz with an ordinary tower cooler.

ASUS has expanded its curved monitor lineup with a new monitor which features a 37.5-inch panel and 3840 x 1600 resolution at a 21:9 aspect ratio. The ultra-wide IPS panel has a 2300R curvature. Furthermore the solid base comes with a built-in Qi wireless charging pad with a max output of 5W/1A.

If you have close look at the latest Z270 motherboards from MSI, you find a knob allowing you to automatically overclock your CPU. This feature should allow novices to increase overall CPU performance, while in the background the board boosts the vCore pretty significantly to achieve these increased clock speeds.
